Animal Kingdom - Tin Man

Already tipped to be one of the year's major breaking bands, London quartet Animal Kingdom follow their recent praise with the release of the single Tin Man available from July 6th 2009 on Warner Bros. Records. Animal Kingdom's debut album, title to be confirmed, will follow in September.

Recorded in Seattle's Electrokitty Studios with producer Phil Ek (Fleet Foxes, The Shins, Les Savy Fav), Tin Man provides a snapshot of Animal Kingdom's talents with its otherworldly, upbeat melodies offset by the yearning melancholy of the lyrics. Available on CD and download formats, Tin Man is Animal Kingdom's full debut following the limited edition release of Chalk Stars.

Developed over a six week period during which the band were living together, Animal Kingdom's debut album ranges from the delicately crafted, emotive pop of the Chalk Stars to the eerie flow of Two By Two that features Sauberlich's vocals floating in the air like the voice of an imaginary friend. But the album is also rich on versatility; the likes of Good Morning Mr. Magpie, Silence Summons You and Into The Sea share a cohesive, cinematic atmosphere but each song represents a unique statement.

Animal Kingdom could be loosely compared to the likes of Mercury Rev, The Cure, The Flaming Lips, Smashing Pumpkins and Grandaddy, but they remain a proposition in which their own individual sound shines through. Their summer touring plan includes festival appearances and dates with Silversun Pickups:

June 2009
27th - Nottingham, Rescue Rooms
28th - Bristol, Thekla
30th - Birmingham, O2 Academy

July 2009
1st - Glasgow, Stereo
2nd - Manchester, Ruby Lounge
3rd - Brighton, Audio
5th - London, The Roundhouse (iTunes Festival with Snow Patrol and Silversun Pickups)
6th - Oxford, O2 Academy
7th - London, Heaven
18th - Latitude Festival
30th - Monmouth Festival
