Coldplay Free Single Download - Violet Hill and Free Shows

Coldplay's new single Violet Hill has been downloaded for free by over two million people in the week since it was made available on www.coldplay.com at 12.15pm on Tuesday April 29 2008.

In the first 12 hours it was downloaded by 300,000, a figure which doubled overnight as other countries logged on to coldplay.com, the source of the free download.

The digital release is a conventional paid-for release on May 6 2008.

Meanwhile, the release of Coldplay's new album "Viva La Vida or Death And All His Friends" has been brought forward four days in the UK to bring it into line with global release dates. The group's album "Viva La Vida or Death And All His Friends" will be released on June 12 2008.

At the same time, coldplay.com will have preliminary details of two free shows that the band will play, one in London and one in New York.

The free shows are:
LONDON BRIXTON ACADEMY JUNE 16
NEW YORK MADISON SQUARE GARDEN JUNE 23

The album comprises ten brand new tracks produced by Brian Eno and Markus Dravs.
