Kav - Rock Child / Soul Kid
Kav's debut solo release, the Blaggers N' Liars EP met with a wall of praise from the broadsheet, music, and national press. His follow-up, the double A-side, Rock Chick / Soul Kid, should cement his position as one of Brit rock's brightest young hopes.
Eschewing the Libertine-lite nature of recent indiedom, Kav's music is injected with a knowing but raw rock n' roll swagger. The debut album is in its final stages, the majority having been recorded at the band's second home for the past year, London's Fortress Studios (Primal Scream / BRMC/ Jagz Kooner/ The Rakes etc), with the finishing touches now being made at the legendary Sound City Studios in Los Angeles (where classic albums such as Nirvana's 'Nevermind' were recorded), where he and drummer, James Portas have now returned.
Key UK live dates around the release include Kav's return to RifRaf at the Proud Galleries (8h Oct) that follows June's storming show at the Camden venue. He then travels North to renowned Manc hotspot, The Aftershow (10th Oct), run by Embrace's Danny Mcnamara.
Rock Chick is a heavy-duty, early Small Faces-style riff-soaked ride with a chorus that could raise the dead, and features Fiachra Kerrigan (backing vocals) and John Wildgoose (keys) from rising London Favourites Marner Brown. A live favourite, Soul Kid features a special guest performance from Josh Ostrander (Eastern Conference Champions lead singer) on piano & backing vocals.
