Kid British - Elizabeth
Kid British release their brilliant debut single Elizabeth on Another Music=Another Kitchen.
With Kid British you are hearing new millennium UK. A walk in any city will give you the flavour of garage, the boom box explosion of hip hop, the Specials rudeboy bonhomie, the clatter of indie - and all this is incorporated into Kid British. Even their name says it all, young and British - growing up in a multi cultural melting pot where pop music is up for grabs and is great fun. It's all in there in a breathless eclectic mix. Just like the genius Outkast, they are re-writing the rules of pop music by picking and mixing it together into a whole of their own.
Kid British are made up of four vocalists and lyricists from Manchester - Sean Mbaya, James Mayer, Adio Marchant and Simeon Mclean. The latter three, in their previous incarnation as the Action Manky, played in the Manchester clubs honing down their live show and when they met studio whiz kid Sean, Kid British was created - a potent meeting of minds and musical tastes. With a fresh unique sound, Kid British quickly caught the attention of the A&R pack and signed to Mercury Records in May 2008.
Their music connects instantly with classic hooks that come one after another and they deliver it with a carefree charisma. Kid British know how to work a stage and bounce around like naturals and with an exciting live show that's not to be missed, they are one of the most electrifying new bands you will see this year.
The band are currently in the studio with Steve Dubb (Chemical Brothers) putting the finishing touches to their debut album, yet to be titled, due for release in early 2009 and will be hitting the live scene later this year with a soon to be announced London residency and UK tour.
Kid British are James Mayer, Adio Marchant, Simeon Mclean and Sean Mbaya.
