simon f baker: ilikemusic because... you can transcend the confines of the material world with it, it's probably better than shagging in fact. There is virtually nothing more satisfying than when a load of chords and words suddenly come together into a song ; suddenly everything in life seems to fit and make sense once more.
Seaney Devereux: ilikemusic because... there's a song for every emotion and music creates debate and debate is what brings us together, it breaks down the walls that seperate sterotypes and it's always involved in your favourite youth memories.
MelissaBeckyLeah: ilikemusic because... itz frikin amazing mann!
Carvadeya: ilikemusic because... It makes it easier for me to get away with doing things like wearing make-up and nail varnish!
cherylyn emery: ilikemusic because... it makes me happy even when im sad
Newton Faulkner: ilikemusic because... I’m absolutely rubbish at everything else.
James Blunt: ilikemusic because... conversation is so limited. It’s the best form of expression we have.
Keane: ilikemusic because... It’s the way we express ourselves
Hugo, The Maccabees: ilikemusic because... I just do. I’ve always liked music. It’s just my thing.Sweet Billy Pilgrim follow their Barclaycard Mercury Music Prize-nominated album Twice Born Men with the release of Kalypso, the track they performed at the event.
Kalypso is a beautiful and haunting song, reminiscent of Elbow at their most atmospheric, with a chorus that revolves like a madrigal. The spartan, hymn-like air sees Sweet Billy Pilgrim drift into Fleet Foxes territory, conjuring cinematic moments of sparkling electricity out of the ether.
The band set off on their first full UK tour alongside Portico Quartet, darlings of the left-field jazz scene, at the end of October. In true everyman style Sweet Billy Pilgrim have foregone the traditional tourbus in favour of squeezing into a Ford Mondeo and hitching a trailer to the back.
And it's this basic approach that makes the glorious music they create even more remarkable. Kalypso, like its parent album 'Twice Born Men' was recorded in a shed at the bottom of Tim's garden, using all sorts of everyday household utensils as instruments, alongside the more traditional guitars, drums and assorted electronica.
