The band who saw off 2007 in style with a three day residency at Leeds Brudenell Social Club supported by no less than the likes of Franz Ferdinand, Kate Nash and Kaiser Chiefs continue where they left off... having recuperated for three weeks, the band headed off on their headline slot on this year's NME Awards tour which kicked off in Ireland on 29th January.
Due to phenomenal demand, the band added an extra Leeds show on February 9th and shows in Glasgow, Newcastle, Manchester and Liverpool SOLD OUT. Following the tour the band appear at the NME Big Gig with Manic Street Preachers, Kaiser Chiefs, Klaxons and Bloc Party.
2007 saw the release of "Men's Needs, Women's Needs, Whatever", the third in an infinite series of albums from Wakefield's finest and one which has propelled 'em forwards to acknowledge the acclaim they have been promised since their inception earlier this century. They have an oft-mentioned rabid fan-base which has been there since the start but it's now that the band are starting to make inroads elsewhere and are enjoying the spoils of having quietly established themselves as one the most respected bands of their generation amongst contemporaries as well as the critics...
With the album having now sold in excess of fifty thousand copies, and a great showing in the end of year polls - NME, Rolling Stone et al. "I'm A Realist" marks the final chapter in the life of "Men's Needs..." and comes b/w a cover of the Replacements' classic "Bastards Of Young", which was produced by Bernard Butler and the band, with Sebastian Lewsley at Edwyn Collins' Westheath Studio. The single is released on Wichita Recordings.
