Born in New York City, Kristina Train signed to legendary jazz label Blue Note Records in her 20's, toured extensively as part of Herbie Hancock's band, then moved to London to create her new record Dark Black. A gentle collection of classic pop swept with sophisticated strings and heartache, the album has received a flurry of well-deserved comparisons to the timeless sound and vocals of Dusty Springfield and Gladys Knight and has won Kristina support from BBC Radio 2.
We headed backstage at the Royal Festival Hall, London to meet Kristina before her show supporting Amy MacDonald that evening. Talking through the challenges of creating her new record, Kristina went on to invite us into her soundcheck where we were treated to an exclusive performance...
Kristina Train - Dark Black is out now.
