I Like Music Because heading
  • Jo WhileyJo Whiley: ilikemusic because... It makes me laugh and it makes my cry and it gets me out of a stress if I’m in a stress, and, if I’m in a good place then it will make me in a better place. It’s all about the emotion, it’s all about the feeling where music takes you to and what affect it has on you.

Ali Campbell from UB40 chats to I Like Music

ILM: So not that social thing?

ALI: Yeah, exactly. We were struck by that back in the day. Now that whole personalised me, me, me thing, which is American, has come over to England and crossed the world now. You won't be able to sell millions and millions of records again whoever you are, anymore, because that's gone as well. You can't release a CD now without it being downloaded. So things are changing and this right now it's the transitionary period. Nobody knows what the f*** is going on. They've just sacked 2000 people from BBC. We've seen the major record labels implode over the last 18 months. And it's the worst it's ever been for those companies. But you've also got cinema, people are downloading films and aren't going to the cinema anymore. Radio stations…. If you're listening to your iPod, you're not listening to the radio.
