Ali Campbell from UB40 chats to I Like Music
ALI: It wasn't really an album idea that started it. Brian Travis, the sax player from UB40, and myself decided to write some songs away from the band, just to do something different. That was about three years ago. So we wrote the five originals that were on the album. They were just knocking about doing nothing, so we'd done them but we were on tour again, so you kind of forget about them. And then, three years later, I was talking to Kim and we were talking about maybe doing an album and getting some guests on.
I'd asked Stevie Wonder already….

ALI: Yeah. He's my all time ultimate hero. I've met him several times and he's always been lovely. This particular time at the Ivor Novello's that we were at, that we'd won one of, I asked him if he'd be interested in doing something with me. And he said, "sure yeah, when? Tonight? Tomorrow?" And I was like "no not quite yet. Not that quick." But once he'd said yes to me, that gave me Carte blanche to ask anyone.
