ILM: He knows his stuff doesn't he?
SAM: Yes he does. And he doesn't take anything on unless he thinks it's going to be successful. So he's pretty confident that we can do well.
ILM: You worked with one of the world's most successful producers, Steve Mac, on the album. You must've learned a lot from him. What did you learn that really stood out?
SAM: That's been an amazing experience because he's had countless number ones and stuff. He knows exactly what he wants and he's direct but he's not forcing anything upon you. He's really gentle, but he knows what he wants. You can also give him ideas and he'll take them onboard and sometimes he uses them. He knows what he's doing but he's really gentle about it. He doesn't say, 'you can't do it get out, and get an expert in and see if they can sing it instead', he's completely different and he tries to include us all in everything. In some tracks, some of us feature a lot and others we don't at all, and because the tracks are different, different ones fit different voices so it generally balances out in terms of how much people get. He's been excellent.
