I Like Music Because heading
  • JunJun: ilikemusic because... music can convey a mood, enhance a mood or change a mood. Music can be used to inspire and the artform is simple yet complicated. It's fun to listen to and even more fun to create and perform. It speaks when just a simple word can't. It's a blessing!!

Ash Chat To I Like Music

Mark: You're just removing the middleman really.

ILM: Since ex-guitarist Charlotte Hatherley's departure in 2006 has it become hard to play certain songs from Nu-Clear Sounds, Free All Angels and Meltdown?

Rick: It was kind of hard at first. But we have worked on those songs in rehearsal and they sound great now.

ILM: Do you prefer being a three-piece again?

Rick: We've been a three-piece again for almost four years now.

Mark: People say to us, "you were a four-piece for seven years," and we're like "were we?"

Rick: It's like getting on a tour bus for the first time in a year and it just feels like you were on that same tour bus yesterday. That's kind of what it feels like for us.

ILM: Annie Lennox has just covered your 2001 hit, Shining Light. How did it feel having a musical icon cover one of your tracks?

Rick: I love Annie Lennox and the Eurythmics; they're one of the most amazing bands ever. And to have her cover Shining Light was just mind-blowing.
