Athlete chat to I Like Music
Athlete release their third album on Parlophone on September 3rd entitled, 'Beyond The Neighbourhood'.
'Beyond The Neighbourhood' is a record of true progression and real quality. Recording in their own studio meant it gave them the freedom to experiment and as such the album glows with a newfound musical confidence, it's self produced songs showing big leaps in terms of ambition, scope and creativity.
ilikemusic.com caught up with Steve from Athlete to talk about the new album, making music and winning awards.

ILM: Your new single, Hurricane, is out physically next week. Can you tell us how the track came about and describe its whole vibe?
STEVE: Yeah. It started…Joel had written the verse and so we just started playing over that in the studio and it was one of the first tracks that we started working on but we didn't finish it until quite late but we quite liked the idea of it being quite upbeat after the last album was a little bit more mellow. So it was really enjoyable playing over a track like that in the studio.
