I Like Music Because heading
  • Jo WhileyJo Whiley: ilikemusic because... It makes me laugh and it makes my cry and it gets me out of a stress if I’m in a stress, and, if I’m in a good place then it will make me in a better place. It’s all about the emotion, it’s all about the feeling where music takes you to and what affect it has on you.

Bashy Chats To I Like Music

Raised in Ladbrooke Grove, London, 23 year old Ashley Thomas, aka Bashy, has finally released his debut album Catch Me If You Can. After notching up millions of youtube hits, working with Damon Albarn, playing Glastonbury, recieving a MOBO nomination, writing the soundtrack to the award winning Noel Clark film Adulthood and releasing singles and mixtapes that have torn apart both streets and speakers, the former London bus driver has already achieved more than most his age.

Following training at the BRIT Performing Arts School Bashy has not only stuck to his musical passions. Constantly proving he is far more than your average urban MC, Bashy also holds writing, acting and community work to his name. I Like Music caught up with Bashy to chat about Catch Me If You Can, music, work in the community and more.

"I Like Music because…it is my air and without it, I would die!"" BASHY

ILM: How would you describe the vibe of Catch Me If You Can?

Bashy: The album is just like a reflection of me. The world through my eyes, my experiences, what I've been through, how I see things. It's got a lot of emotion in there to do with my family, to do with me, to do with love, to do with what I aspire to, to do with my dreams. The music behind me is my soundtrack to the world. It all meshes together. It's a body of work for me which I hope stands the test of time.
