Beardyman chats to I Like Music

Beardyman
Beatboxing uses an instrument. Let's say the piano, if it was only used on its own then it's arguable that it is cheated of being part of a rich sound palette. There are so many sounds that can be created with the human voice, even through effects, and there is no reason why the voice shouldn't become the new guitar if you put it through enough effects!

ILM: Are there any sounds you can't make?!

Beardyman: There are plenty of noises I can't do. Like a completely realistic piano sound is basically impossible to emulate. You can get close but it will never sound right. There are three strings on a piano and only one in your throat. So it is possible to get close, if you emulate the phasing on a piano, of those strings with your mouth...it can sound a bit like it! You've got to give them all a go haven't you?!

ILM: You have worked with a lot of people - Killa Kela, Groove Rider, Jazzy Jeff, Andy C...Is there anyone who is completely top of your wish list?

Beardyman: Either Radiohead or Aphex Twin.

ILM: What was it like working with Jazzy Jeff? (There was the Fresh Prince of Bel-Air...you could be the Bearded Prince of Brighton? Ha!)
