Betty Curse chats to I Like Music

New Goth Pop princess, Betty Curse, releases her new single, God This Hurts on August 21st, from her debut album Hear Lies Betty Curse, which is out in October.
The video sees Betty in full Gothic wedding regalia.

As a result of the attention around her debut release, Met On The Internet/Excuse All The Blood, Betty has seen her popularity grow online through sites like Myspace.com, who recently put her on their front page as one of their Features Artists.

BETTY CURSE has been said to be the real life incarnation of Japanese cartoon character Emily Strange, a cult figure amongst teens in the UK. Spawned from a love of Nick Cave, The Cure, The Cramps, Vivienne Westwood, horror writer Edgar Allan Poe and 50's poster girl Betty Paige, her music gives us sweet pop melodies accompanied by altogether more biting lyrics.

Now 19 years old, Betty had an early taste of fame when she was tipped at 13 as one of the UK's most exciting new acting talents, winning a Venice Film Festival Award as Best Newcomer for her part in her very first film appearance, in the Stephen Frears directed/Jimmy McGovern penned 'Liam'. Even then, when The Face Magazine tipped her for big things, all she wanted to talk about was Slipknot. She got her first break at an 80s Matchbox B-Line Disaster gig when she met Steve Ludwin, who is the main co-writer with Betty on her debut album.
