Bomb The Bass Chats To ilikemusic
Tim: It's a collection of songs sung on top of a minimoog. It has elements of darkness as well as light. It's a collection of songs that have been put together in the last ten years.
ILM: You worked quite a bit with Paul Conboy on the album. How did you guys hook up?
Tim: I met Paul through a mutual friend, Adrian Corker. Paul and Adrian had been in a band together called APE. When I moved to Amsterdam I started up a little label called Electric Tones, the second release on Electric Tones was APE. After that we started working together. It felt like a very natural progression for Paul to be involved on this new Bomb The Bass album. So Special and Hold Me Up were actually written just after we met. Although they were all very different sounding then.
ILM: So did you get the minimoog out and just strip it all back to basics?
Tim: Yeah. The previous version of Future Chaos just felt over worked and had all the life flattened out of it because I hadn't had the time to actually tweak everything properly. It became a technical excercise! That is what the 'Chaos' came from. I stuck that word next to the computer because I wanted the album to have a random chaos about it. The last version had missed it.
