ILM: There is a lot of software trying to re-create it, but it doesn't sound the same...
Tim: It depends what you want to do with it. If you get a software version of the minimoog and you're going to put it through distortion and effects, then maybe that's OK. But I think, for this particular project and the recording of it, we wanted it to be as clean and as direct as possible. We wanted it to be as authentic as possible.
ILM: Is there a piece of studio or live equipment that you couldn't live without?
Tim: Nowadays it is the computer. I spend most of my life behind a computer. In terms of a piece of musical equipment it will have to be the minimoog. Well, actually, that and the Roland 808 Drum Machine. Those are the two things I would like!
ILM: You've hooked up with quite a few people on this album. Do you have any dream collaborations?
