Tim: It's got to be Herbie Hancock. I'd like to share the studio with Herbie Hancock. That would be a bit of a dream for me really. He is slightly God-like that guy...and ever since Rockit...I think that one particular record changed peoples lives. That was the first time I had heard of Herbie Hancock and seen someone use the turntable as an instrument. Seeing someone cutting up a record like that was just....wow.

ILM: How has the internet affected you and your music?

Tim: Before I signed with K7 I was out of deals. I was putting up tracks on myspace, I had videos made, all working toward the idea that I would get a distribution deal and would put music out that way. Word started to get around. The internet is great to spread the word. But of course people downloading for free and everything is a hurdle, it is about getting the balance right. It is the same with sampling. I mean, with Beat-Dis, I didn't clear it with any artist. And of course there was a big Hoo-Ha with Sugar Hill and Funky Four +1 and the 'Everybody in the street' part, and Dolby Robertson wrote a really heavily worded letter, basically 'Get that record off or we will send the boys round'....So eventually we did change the 'Everybody in the street' part to something else. It is about finidng a balance. Nowdays I suppose there has got to be some way that people who put in the hours get something for it. It is a necessary evil though now days. I don't know.
