Carl Cox chats to I Like Music

CARL COX: It's very interesting to be able to do that. I always try to get people to understand that I do have emotions and I do have an alter-ego of Carl Cox. I enjoy house music, punk and jazz and all these sounds I've grown up with and incorporate all those sounds into the music that I make. It's not even primarily dance floor friendly. It's just that I want people to listen to what I've created.

It's difficult making an album in some ways because people know me for dance floor stompers and every-track's-a-winner, to an album that you've actually got to listen to. But, it's the only way I can do this in what I want to create and how I want people to understand that my music is my music and my DJing is my DJing. I'm not here to make hit records and top the charts; that's never going to happen, the expectations of that are way too high, but what I can do is, the people who are into Carl Cox creatively, they're the ones that I'm feeling still with my music. So I'm quite happy to have this career based on people trusting me to make something that's part of me still and my history and what happens next, I'm pretty happy with that.page << 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 >>
