Charli XCX Chats To ilikemusic
16 year old Charli XCX has just released the follow up to her debut single, the double A side Emmelline / Art bitch, on her own label XCX Music. Covering neon coloured shouts and quriky indie pop beats with a hefty layer of club-kid, feather boa rave-glam, we caught up with Miss.XCX to find out more....
"I Like Music because… It makes me dance and move my feet like a 5 year old high on Jellytots" CHARLI XCX
ILM: Your latest release is the Emelline / Art Bitch double A side. Can you give us your own description of the tracks whole vibe?
Charli: Yeah well, the tracks are quite contrasting. Emelline is about my imaginary friend. The song is quite dark and sadistic. She's quite playful but at the same time captivating and manipulative. It's basically just about everything she makes me do and say. Art Bitch, on the other hand, is a lot more mellow, about my two friends whose lives are wrapped up in all things art. It's just supposed to be a pretty song, not really commenting on art as something people idolise, but just for what it is... although I do think some people idolise art in a really bad way.
