Charlotte Hatherley chats to I Like Music

Charlotte Hatherley used to be in Ash but has since made a name for herself as an innovative songwriter and musician in her own right, garnering support from the likes of David Bowie among others. Bowie said of Charlotte's Behave single, "Behave is proof that Charlotte made the right decision to go solo. The guitar part is an instant hook, that has a kind of Eno-esque quirkiness about it...Impossibly catchy, you'll find this popping into your head when you least expect it. Stonkingly odd (in a good way) video too." Her new single, Siberia is out now, the second single from her The Deep Blue album.

We caught up with Charlotte Hatherley to talk about her new single, having her own record label, festivals and having Bowie as a fan (after she played little else other than Bowie as a teenager).

ILM: So how are you this fine summer's day?

CHARLOTTE: This is actually the first gorgeous day I've had at home. I've moved into a new flat and I've got a big garden, so I've been sat in the garden doing phone interviews and playing the acoustic guitar. Until today the weather's been f***ing rubbish. It was my birthday last week and I can't remember a single year where it hasn't been glorious sunshine on my birthday.
