Dodgy Chat To I Like Music

ILM: What do you think it is about music that helps spread a message, such as that of Crisis?

Matthew: It's impartial. People look up to bands. Plus they're very good at getting attention. From a charity point of view, bands will make the whole thing look a lot cooler to young people! One of the things I like about Crisis is that one of their beliefs is prevention, stopping people from ending up homeless in the first place. Also trying to educate people.

ILM: You've known The Bluetones for a long time haven't you?

Matthew: Yes! When Dodgy first started we had a house in West London in Hanslow West ** before we were signed. We got to know these guys who were into the same music as us, basically the Stone Roses, and we used to hang out, have parties and do lots of naughty things really. We went on to get signed as Dodgy, then they changed their names and got signed as The Bluetones. After that our paths never really crossed, we never did gigs together, we never toured together. I mean, we were on the same festival bill a couple of times, but we never really saw each other. We found out that we'd never done a gig together. This was a chance to do that!
