I Like Music chats to Dom Cook, The Marketing Director of MySpace
Dom: Yeah...It's great that this producer has chosen MySpace to try and find talent because there is a huge amount of talent on MySpace. I'm delighted that there has been such a huge response from the users. It is what I like about it in many ways. There is no record deal there, this isn't X-Factor, there isn't a panel of judges. It is purely here's a producer who wants to find someone new that he hasn't worked with before and so he's inviting anyone who thinks they are a talented singer or can write a good song or who is a great performer to get in touch. If it feels right then it will work. Although there is no record deal there, a producer with that many million records to his name will be able to get a meeting at a record label! So I'm sure it will develop into something much more.
ILM: It really is an interesting way of doing it. The music industry is constantly evolving and MySpace is playing a large part in that. What is your background, in terms of career? How did you get involved in MySpace?
