ILM: Yeah it's raw, it's like the real you and you've got that confidence...
ESTELLE: Between 18 to 25 you're figuring your sh1t out. The things you say you wouldn't do at 19 you end up doing at 23. The things you say you wouldn't do at 23, you end up doing at 25. So it changes. I'm 27 now and I'm still doing it but I'm pretty close.
ILM: Your first single Wait A Minute (Just A Touch) from your new album came out in November. Can you tell us how the single came about and describe its vibe?
ESTELLE: The vibe of the song is just hype. We were in with Will.I.Am and I said, 'I'm not leaving here without a hit. I'm not leaving here without some heat at the very least. Just hell no.' And he was being his eccentric self. He started playing samples and vibing. And I said, 'I wanna go to some old school hip hop shit but I want sing and make it real pretty.' And I had this idea that I was gonna do this song, 'Betty Bag had a bad attitude.' I was gonna use that. And he started vibing more and he said, 'what do you think about this?' And he pulled out 'bamp, bamp, bamp, bamp' [Estelle sings a famous hip hop sample], the original. You've heard it on the Biggie tunes and whatnot, but I hadn't heard the original forever.
