ILM: What advice would you offer to young people looking to come into the music industry?
Everlast: Don't. Don't even consider coming into it. Make your own industry. With the digital world growing everyday the physical, hard product of records is just disappearing. That was really the big deal. If you are savvy and smart enough you will find a way to get yourself noticed on the net. If your s**t is good then if you hustle and grind a little bit you can really make it down without anyone elses help. You can do it without any of these big wig cats getting a piece of the pie. I keep telling people, I'm in the record business and the record business is dead. If you don't know how to re-invent it and re-invent yourself in it, if you're thinking of it from a traditional stand point, then you have already lost.
