Fedde le Grand MOS Sessions Interview

Fedde Le Grand is a name that is now very familiar across the world, due to the phenomenal success of his crossover hit 'Put Your Hands Up For Detroit'.

Fedde started 2006 as a reasonably unknown House DJ in Holland, holding down a residency at Panama in Amsterdam with his night 'Sneakerz'. He was no rookie though; things were going well with his club night and 2006 looked to be promising year. What an understatement that turned out to be! What started as a simple bassline popping in his head whilst making his breakfast one morning, would later end up as THE number 1 dance record of 2006 by the end of the year.

'Put Your Hands Up For Detroit' was initially released on his own label Flamingo Recordings and due to an overwhelming amount of support it was soon picked up by Cr2 and given a bigger push to make sure the track received the attention it deserved. The number one summer anthem of Ibiza, it reached number 4 in the Dutch top 40 and stayed there for several weeks, masses of radio play followed including being added to the daytime A-list of Radio 1 six weeks before release, which is pretty unheard of for any dance record, let alone from an unknown artist with an electro house club track. On the 5th November the unthinkable happened for Fedde and his record went number 1 in the official UK singles chart and he became one of the hottest names in dance music. Not a bad year!
