Gomez chat to I Like Music

Celebrating their tenth anniversary this October, Gomez have a busy summer lined-up, fresh from their UK tour, with a multitude of festival appearances in July and August. Seven years since winning the Mercury Music Prize for Bring It On, Gomez's fantastic new album (their first in two years) How We Operate is out now, featuring latest single GirlShapedLoveDrug.

I Like Music caught up with vocalist and guitarist Ben Ottewell in between Gomez's gigs at T in the Park and Latitude Festival to talk about working with an outside producer (Gil Norton) for the first time, festival ups and downs and who's got the worst hair.

"I like music because… it allows me not to have to work for a living."
BEN OTTEWELL, GOMEZ

ILM: You celebrate your 10th anniversary this October. How will you celebrate?

BEN: I think we're actually playing a string of gigs, like a residency thing in New York at the Bowery Ballroom, which is a really good venue. I think we're doing that although nothing's been confirmed yet. We're playing a gig anyway.
