  • Jo WhileyJo Whiley: ilikemusic because... It makes me laugh and it makes my cry and it gets me out of a stress if I’m in a stress, and, if I’m in a good place then it will make me in a better place. It’s all about the emotion, it’s all about the feeling where music takes you to and what affect it has on you.
  • Peter CincottiPeter Cincotti: ilikemusic because... Of what the world would be without it. It’d be a very scary place. I think we’d all be screwed.
  • Steve, Hard-FiSteve, Hard-Fi: ilikemusic because... Life is not worth living without it. Everything else could disappear, but music is the one thing that always remains with me throughout my entire life.
  • WoodyWoody: ilikemusic because... it saved my life... Respect.
  • Leon Jean-MarieLeon Jean-Marie: ilikemusic because... It transcends. It really creates emotion with someone. That feeling it gives you, it goes through boundaries. To create something, it just breaks through all the walls. When you connect with a song, that is it, that is magic isn't it?
  • Rasmus, AlphabeatRasmus, Alphabeat: ilikemusic because... It makes me happy and it makes me dance around and sometimes it makes me a bit emotional. It encompasses all the emotions from happiness to sadness and it’s fun to play too.

Good Shoes chat to I Like Music

Good Shoes have spent the last year selling out their frenzied live shows to a very devoted fan base. Having supported some of the biggest names in indie, Maximo Park and The Kaiser Chief's, I Like Music caught up with lead singer Rhys Jones to chat about their new single 'Small Town Girl' from their debut album 'Think Before You Speak', being a superhero and wearing a good pair of shoes.

"I Like Music because.... it gets you moving." RHYS JONES, GOOD SHOES

ILM: Small Town Girl is out now. Can you describe the track's vibe and how it came about? Is it about Keira Knightley who you went to school with (as rumours would have it)? Pray tell?

RHYS: The single just came out this week and I wrote it when I was in Art School. It came about when we were starting up the band and it was the second song we ever wrote really, which is a bit odd that it's getting released two years after that. But, I suppose that's the way the music industry works. I don't really know what else to say about it really, it's not about Keira Knightly though, which it probably says on your press release! We never got to check over the press release that we sent out, and we get asked that all the time!
