It is sort of a kaleidoscope of what I would do on the turntables infront of a mirror of cultures, places and things that I have seen as a DJ. As a DJ it gives me a chance to not hold anything back.
ILM: So you could use all of your influences rather than hand-pick specific ones for a set?
Grandmaster Flash: Exactly. Rather than 'I can't do that, I can't do this.' I can do what I hear. I've put quite a few things on it.
ILM: What can we expect if we come to see you live?
Grandmaster Flash: Expect the un-expected. I try not to plan a show because if you script it then it makes it sterile. I like to bring as much music with me as possible, look at the audience and say 'OK. What shall I play first.' And then I'll go from there. I never plan it. I will be within the realm of pop, rock, jazz, blues, funk, soul, RnB, some disco, anything.
