Glasgow born Hydro has been getting a lot of attention in the media recently for his take on modern Hip Hop. After starting his career working for Def Jam records in the USA he picked up influences from both the top talent and the US streets. ilikemusic caught up with him to chat about his album Crucial, collaborations with Busta Rhymes and Che'nelle and his future plans.

ILM: Can you give us your own personal description of the whole Hydro vibe? What can people expect from your album Crucial?
Hydro: I was born in Glasgow and was introduced to hip hop by my father. My father passed away when I was nine. I fell in love with hip hop and I guess it became my father figure. Having no outlet in the UK, or EU for my music, I left for NYC after high school. I moved to the Bronx, shuffled between there and Harlem, worked as an intern for a couple of record labels, including Def Jam and returned to the UK in my twenties bringing what I learned with me.
