Jamie Cullum Chats To I Like Music

Having released 500 copies of his first album, Jamie Cullum Trio - Heard It All Before, in 1999, graduated from Reading University with a first in English Literature, then released his second album Pointless Nostalgic in 2002, which gained heightened media interest, Jamie Cullum soon found himself in the middle of a record label bidding war. Universal beat Sony and Jamie signed a £1m contract for three albums. His third album, Twentysomething, was released in October 2003, went platinum and secured Jamie the accolade of the UK's biggest selling jazz artist of all time.

Now Jamie Cullum has returned with his fifth studio album The Pursuit. Combining elements of pop and jazz, Jamie mixes his own material with the contemporary cover versions he has become known and loved for.

I Like Music caught up with Jamie to chat about his new album, the difference between working on his own material and a cover version, his vast musical collection, why he's not bothered by fame and how an Eddie Van Halen guitar solo kick-started his musical dreams...

"I Like Music because… It expresses stuff that can't be expressed any other way." JAMIE CULLUM
