Jamie Cullum Chats To I Like Music

Jamie: Glastonbury was one of the most memorable ones! I've been going to Glastonbury for years! I grew up near there, so playing on that stage for the first time was truly amazing! Also I played an amazing festival in Switzerland where I stole a bass drum off stage, from Billy Idol's band! I played in the South of France on the beach, at the Antibes Juan les Pins Jazz Festival, with the sound of the waves in the background! Also playing on stages my idols have played on, people like Herbie Hancock, Keith Jarrett, Miles Davis. Playing Carnegie Hall this summer in New York!

ILM: What would be your advice to anyone looking to form a career in the music industry?

Jamie: I think it's clearer than ever, especially with the way the industry is now and seeing how things work. If you're willing to play the proper full on fame game and that's what you want, then just do what the people who know tell you to do, people like Simon Cowell. Cheryl Cole has a big character and voice and is up for fashion, hair, all that kind of stuff. On one hand that's all great, you can have an incredibly successful career.
