ILM: What are you seeing from the stage? What are you seeing in the kids? Does it ever flip you out that you're singing your lyrics and they're coming back at you?
Jay-Z : Oh definitely, it's the most amazing experience. When I'm singing a song it's almost like when you drive home and you realise you got there and you get home and you're like "I don't even remember the journey, I just remember… how'd I get here?" So a lot of times when I'm doing a show, I'm lost in the show, I'm just really doing the show, but I'm really watching everybody in the show like this guy's… you know… so just to see the interaction. The other day I saw a kid and he was looking at my sneakers, I had on some Jordan's, and he was telling his friend, he was like, "Yo, those are Jordan's." It's crazy, but I'm doing the song, I think it was 'Encore' actually, and… when I got to a part, instead of saying "Come back later on" I said "When I come back like these Jordan's" and when I say that he goes crazy to his friend, "I told you!" It was just, you know, one of those type of moments. So I just switched the song and just… it was tailor-made for them two… and their conversation.

You might argue that you can translate emotions through films and through books but anyone can make music, whether that be humming or singing along to the radio, it’s something that gives enjoyment and positivity to many people.
