Joe Lean And The Jing Jang Jong

Joe Lean And The Jing Jang Jong Chat To I Like Music

Then someone suggests something and we just go with it. It just works like that. Occasionally someone might write their own part for a whole song. Everyone has their own style. Before we started gigging we just played loads and loads in the studio because that was what was fun. You start to rely on the other people and work out how to be compatible. You learn how to create songs out of what you've got, out of just you five.

ILM: You're living your dream, career wise, what's your advice to young people on pursuing their dream career?

Dom: I would never try and give any advice unless I was asked. We haven't got that far yet. But in terms of anyone that wants to become a musician I would very strongly advise them to only take notice of the things that they like. Don't get caught up in any trends that are going on at that time. That is only going to detract from your identity. The best thing about any band that comes out is if they have their own original style. I think that is completely commendable. There are lots of bands around at the moment, even if I don't like their music, when I listen to any of their songs, I know it is them, because they are the only ones playing that way. I think it's important, to anyone trying to make a band, don't get too stressed trying to sound like someone else. Do your own thing and make it good. Then you should be fine.

ILM: What are your plans for the summer?

Dom: This summer we are doing quite a few festivals. We have quite a few big ones in England. We have got Glastonbury, Reading, Leeds, Isle of Wight and a couple of others. We are doing Rock-Am-Ring in Germany, Hove Festival in Norway, we've got one in Switzerland, we're doing Summersonic in Japan..um…oh we have one in Italy in Milan I think…so..yeah..it's going to be brilliant. We love staying in party atmospheres where everyone is up for it, the weathers nice…page << 1 2 3 4 5 6 >>
