Kate Walsh Chats To I Like Music

Born in Burnham-On-Crouch, Essex, singer-songwriter Kate Walsh has now released her third album, Light and Dark. Following on from her 2003 debut Clocktower Park and her No 1 UK iTunes store album, 2007's Tim's House, Light and Dark continues in her tradition of sweeping, melodical love songs. I Like Music caught up with Kate to chat about her new album, writing songs, touring with Turin Brakes and more.

"I Like Music because… it gives your soul a chance to speak, without even having to think about it. Whatever mood you're in, or whatever feelings you have, there's a song or piece of music out there that completely fits the picture…that's called prosody." KATE WALSH

ILM: How would you describe the vibe of Light & Dark?

Kate: Basically, it does exactly what it says on the tin. I've grown up a lot since recording my last album Tim's House, so I guess you could say I'm not as deluded about things as I used to be. It's a collection of songs about love and longing, but there are also some ghosts put to rest.
