Katie Melua Chats to ilikemusic.com

"So, if you're really passionate about the music, keep going, keep gigging. Also, don't be afraid to blag your way through things.

"You'd be surprised how many people have got through by calling up record companies (they're going to hate me now) to follow up sending in a demo tape. They listen to them but they've got millions coming in, so if you can maybe organise a meeting with someone you can stand out."

With The Closest Thing To Crazy ranking 5th in the Record Of The Year 2004 final, a Christmas Mania performance and two new download singles ready to go, Katie Melua has certainly made herself stand out from the crowd and there's plenty more still to come from the uber-talented 20-year-old.

On December 13th Katie releases two download singles, Belfast (Penguins and Cats) and My Aphrodisiac Is You.

"It was quite interesting to pick those two particular singles, because they're such opposites of each other," explains Katie.

"One is an up tempo song, that's a fun love song and has a funny reference to drugs and not taking them, and also things that turn you on, and saying you don't need that because the person that you love turns you on. So it's a fun song to sing.
