Katie Melua Chats to ilikemusic.com

"The other one, Belfast, is a bit more serious. It's one which I've written that's quite autobiographical. It's about Belfast - I lived there between the ages of 8 and 13. And the song is about the struggle that was there between actually seeing the Belfast that was on the news, which was constantly about the troubles, the Protestants and the Catholics, was so extreme from my own from my really good experiences; meeting great people that were very lovely and so kind, and the song is about the strangeness of that juxtaposition of those two feelings. It's good to give out a positive message."

Meanwhile, Katie was also part of this year's Band Aid 20 line-up for the Do They Know It's Christmas record.

"Being part of Band Aid 20 was really amazing!" Katie exclaims.

"I arrived and it was a freezing day so I think people were a little bit cold when we first got in. At the beginning it was so strange to see so many huge musicians all there. It was almost weird.

"But when Sir Bob Geldof made the speech and showed the footage, it was at that point where everyone kind of let go of their egos, and realised what we were actually there for, and hopefully what a difference what we were doing would make."

Katie is also doing a version of Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas. So what will Ms Melua be up to this Chrimbo to make sure it's a merry one?

"I'm going to spend it with my family. I'm having some time off, so with them it's a guaranteed good time."
