"It wasn't a career move and was just for a laugh, I'd just won a bedroom makeover as well, and it was literally £250 worth of MFI vouchers, so I had to do the makeover myself!" laughs Katie.
So, what does she think of today's plethora or reality TV shows for budding popstars?
"I think today's reality shows..... well, at first when I started really getting into music and getting serious about it, I used to hang around with loads of musicians, and we all had the same idea. That reality TV shows were the easy way in and sometimes for people who maybe didn't deserve it.
"But, in hindsight, it's actually highlighted to the mainstream public how much music is manufactured, and it's made some people turn against it. Pop Idol is something that people have to turn against, so it's like the bad thing has a face.
