ILM: You're headlining V festival this year (can't wait). What's been your most memorable festival appearance? And what are your favourite tracks to play live?
RICHARD: I think Radiohead are headlining, and we said we'd play because the tickets had sold out, and this way we get to watch them twice. They are an inspiration.
The most memorable festival was the first time we played Glastonbury - we'd played to 200 people in New York, flown over the night before, and were tired and nervous - Tom had nightmares about it the night before. I didn't because I hardly slept at all. It was insane - we thought we'd be on some little tent stage somewhere the other side of the healing fields, but it was vast, and full. People as far as the eye could see, singing along in the rain, and then the sun came out during a song with the line "I Open My Eyes and It's A Lovely Day". It was almost like God had decided he wanted to do the lighting for that song.
