RICHARD: I guess we each have a different perspective on it. Tim (songwriter) definitely challenged Tom (singer) and me with his demos - there were some pretty hard tracks to play drums on, namely "Broken Toy" and Leaving So Soon".
"Broken Toy" has a kid-a jazz gone wrong thing going which took me a week to work out how to play, but felt great to record; "Leaving So Soon" flows really nicely through a few different sections, and I'm really proud of it. I'm also loving playing "Is It Any Wonder?" [the new single] as it's just a great three minute rock song - Keane's take on a Hendrix riff, and a very personal take on how a normal person tries to deal with so-called "political" things that we instinctively care about but struggle to understand.
I know Tom loves singing "Crystal Ball" - it's definitely a challenging song to sing, really gymnastic vocals, but luckily, in my humble opinion, Tom's the best rock singer around. He has an incredible range, and listening to him singing vocals in the studio was amazing.
ILM: I'm intrigued to know more about The Frog Prince. Can you describe that one?
