It's funny, because giving up on it made me start enjoying it again for the first time. I didn't have to be there, I didn't have to do it, but I was there because I wanted to be there, so the pressure of it having to succeed wasn't there. So there was that much energy not spent on worrying about it that gave us the energy to move forward.
It's like everything in life, you never get what you're desperate for until you're no longer desperate for it. Then suddenly you get a rush of energy that says you're ready for it now, now that you don't crave it, you're ready to deal with it if you have it. When I was craving it, if I'd have gotten it, I would've fucked it all away. I'd have said, 'well I've got it' and just vented all my energy in the excitement of having it, whereas now, every day I take it with a pinch of salt and appreciate it all.
