Tired of being told what she should and should not wear to the shopping centre, LADY SOVEREIGN dishes out some sartorial advice of her own - putting those who'd like to ban her favourite item of clothing firmly in their place.
Evidently, with her new Hoodie single, her recent trip to number 10 to see Gordon Brown in her Save The Hoodie campaign, her UK tour and her invitation to meet Jay Z at Def Jam, Lady Sovereign is the UK's dopest female MC. I LIKE MUSIC caught up with Lady Sov to chat about Hoodies, Jay-Z and find out what happened at the amazing DefJam meeting ...
"I like music because… I do!" LADY SOVEREIGN
ilm: Your new single, "Hoodie", is out on November 21st. Can you give us your own personal description of the tracks whole vibe?
Lady Sov: OK, its been produced by Basement Jaxx and the song is just about fashion sense, what I wear and how people look at me, but then how I look at people that wear flowery dresses and how I don't like it. But, like, they get the upper hand on the hoodies and stuff, like people will turn around and say that hoddies are a bad thing and you can't wear it, but I'm like, f*ck it, I wear what I wear, d'ya know what i mean?
