Laura Izibor Chats To ilikemusic

ILM: What can we expect from your debut album? A similar vibe to the single?

Laura: It's quite diverse. There's definitely my thing running through it! There's more of an old soul vibe about it, more than the little hiphop vibe that you hear in From My Heart To Yours. It's completely genuine. There's nothing contrived about this record. I just wrote the songs and we went into the production with the attitude of letting the songs breathe, letting them be strong and letting them be themselves. A lot of people will go and see the hottest guy of the moment who will drop his beats down and make the album bullet proof. I don't want that. I just wanted a pure, honest record and the production definitely kept that feeling.

ILM: You actually co-produced your album. That must have enabled you to keep hold of your creativity on both sides.....

Laura: Oh completely. I just don't know how people can let go! I'm a control freak! I just feel like the songs are my babies. I could never be like "Yup. I'm done. Here you go. Over to you. See you in a week." I was just like "Mum, I've got to fly over. I've got to be in there to see what they're doing."
