Laura Izibor Chats To ilikemusic

ILM: You performed with Nitin Sawhney for the BBC Electric Proms in 2006. What was that like? What did you learn from him?

Laura: He's a very interesting guy. He is a true artist in that sense. The way an artist would talk about his paintings, he talks about his work. He is very spiritual as well. One thing I learnt from him was not to be afraid to really explore music. To actually talk about it. Not just to say "Hmm. I'll play this...how does this make me feel?" but to, well I can't really explain it....He is just very creative. He's not afraid to go there. I was a lot younger then, it was two years ago and I was 19. It was a great experience to work with someone like that. It definitely did have an influence on me.
