They haven't had a chance to actually live it and learn how to get better at it, so I'm glad I did all that in the 1980s because it was ever so different then.
ILM: And it's great you're still around. We're looking forward to hearing the new album.
MARK: Thanks Cheryl, I'm glad to be out there doing it, and really excited to be going out on the road. And with some new material as well, it's going to be a blast.
ILM: And the festivals will be fun too.
MARK: They're fantastic to do, it's lovely because you're part of a whole package and people are just there to have a good time, so that's great.
ILM: How does it feel to be in one of the country's most influential bands of the last twenty years? Have you been able to enjoy the journey and smell the roses?
MARK: I wish I'd done more of that actually. I wish I'd enjoyed it more at the time. I look back and realize it really was a fantastic time. And hindsight is a great thing to be able say I wish I'd made more of this opportunity or that opportunity, but there's no point in regretting things, because at least I'm looking back now and thinking that was fantastic and a great thing to do. And I've got a second bite of the cherry now, so yeah, I must make more time to smell those roses.
