You might argue that you can translate emotions through films and through books but anyone can make music, whether that be humming or singing along to the radio, it’s something that gives enjoyment and positivity to many people.
Lupe Fiasco: ilikemusic because... It gives me a chance to escape and reach people I wouldn’t ordinarily be able to reach. And without music the world would be kinda quiet.
So he came to see us playing and he liked one thing we did, which was called Love Meeting Love and that was a very unusual song to choose for a single really, but anyway that went out and became quite a hit with the Jazz Funk crowd at the time and there was this new movement called Brit Funk that was underway having all-nighters Soul Weekenders and what not, and they kind of took us under their wing, so that in a lot of ways shaped the direction we were going to go in. Because we could have gone in two or three different directions really. And since then we've always tried to develop the songwriting and see where things go.
