So you couldn't really say we're just a jazz funk group, but there are elements of it in there. And in the same way we're not really a straight pop group either. It's a very hard thing to nail down.
ILM: But equally it must be more interesting to make that kind of music.
MARK: It's great for myself as a bass player, the music of Level 42 is a great vehicle for the way that I like to play bass, which is quite up front and in your face, a very percussive way of playing. I'm ever so lucky that that's what I like to do and what I'm known for doing to have had the chance in a band like Level 42. Certainly the way I play wouldn't have fitted in with a regular rock band or any other of the bands I can think of really, so I was quite lucky.
