Mark King of Level 42 chats to I Like Music

ILM: Which tracks did you have the most fun making in the studio over the years?

MARK: Studio time was always a lot of fun and also a lot of stress too. Because when you're in a band, you've got 5 people all desperately trying to get their ideas across at the same time. And I think that's what's great about when groups make music because you have this compromise but you never know what you're going to end up with, because you have all these inputs and different ideas, so it was never an easy thing in the studio, but always really exciting too. But I suppose one of the songs that came together really well just in the studio would've been a track called Star Child.

That was a song that in particular for Mike Lindup and Wally Badger really showed their skills off brilliantly. Mike because his singing is really good on that song, and Wally Badger too because he had these great synths parts that he put together which were so intricate and so well crafted, I'm really proud to have been involved on that track.
