Michael Bolton chats to I Like Music

MICHAEL: Very, and fortunately her friends all concurred. There's a little bit of a back story, which is Sammy Conn, who was one of the greatest composers of all time… Sinatra used to go to him a lot when he really needed a hit, and Sammy adored Nicollette and his wife is still a friend of Nicollette, so she was over the moon about the duet. And Sammy has passed away, but it always means a lot to family when you embrace one of their creations. That's something that goes on behind the scenes that most people don't know about, it's very personal.

ILM: How was that working/singing together?

MICHAEL: At the time we'd just started seeing each other again after eight years. We were together about 14 years ago for six years. But it didn't surprise me that she summoned the courage to go in, it's just funny that of all the things she'd be afraid of, that that might be one.
