Michael Bolton chats to I Like Music

So I learned that a long time ago and Al Schmitt is someone who is respectful and he is someone who protects the integrity of the sessions. He's won about 17 Grammys, he has phenomenal ears, but he's very mindful that there's a process going on, that if you allow it to go on and have really great musicians… and we had A musicians, and that's another thing that Alex Christensen brought to the process, we just worked with LA's finest. LA and New York have some of the finest musicians you'll ever have the pleasure of playing with. But when you direct them to the arrangers version of the composition of the song, then you just let them gel, you let them do what they do best. In a way, you have to stay out of their way when you're producing.
